For California outdoor explorers, a three week drive through the Pacific Northwest is full of wonder and unusual beauty. Most significantly, the amount of water flowing through Oregon and Washington state is a welcome novelty. Although this is a year of significant climate change and unusually low water in the area, it is still surprising to Californians.
To travel the North Cascades by car is to drive by lake after lake, rocky rivers flowing through small towns and big cities, alike. In addition to enjoying waterways, the Pacific Northwest hosts lavender and blueberry picking, rock climbing, and walking beaches.
Every corner of the North Cascades and Oregon Coast could be a trip of its own. It is hard to leave these places, a sign of a good trip.
